You may be interested in this plugin, it looks like it is not bound to Profilactic and is quite customizable. I am seriously considering using it!

What I am ultimately aiming for is to just have something that re-formats the default output from FriendFeed into a 'lifestream' format.. because FF has those nice commented on.. and ... posted a new entry etc..
